‘Yellowstone’ Season 4: Was Lloyd in the Wrong Fighting Walker?

Yellowstone fans are intense about their fandom. Exhibit A: the Reddit message boards. At any given time of year, be it during a Yellowstone season or in the long wait between seasons, fans can be found debating every aspect of the show on the boards with religious zeal.

Now fans are weighing in on the Season 4, Episode 4 fight between Lloyd (Forrie J. Smith) and Walker (Ryan Bingham). In one new Reddit thread, a fan pointed out that the barrel racers, Mia and Laramie (Eden Brolin and Hassie Harrison), have caused a lot of trouble in the Bunkhouse, but Lloyd arguably should have known better than to get into a fight with Walker over Laramie.

“Maybe it’s his ego feeling fragile at being jilted for the younger man,” the fan posted. “It probably is but surely he’s bigger than being pissed off about it all.”

Yellowstone Fan Has a Solution to Bunkhouse Problems

The fan went on to suggest a solution to the problems currently roiling the Bunkhouse. Get rid of the barrel racers, and things will settle down again, the fan argued.

“What I don’t get and even more so now after fight is how TF John is still letting those women stay!!” the fan added. “Anyone could see it was always a recipe for disaster. X amount of all men and then a small supply of women for them to all fight over… egos and testosterone and a lot of peacocking… I mean, it was inevitable. Surely he needs to send them away now because it’s causing so many problems. Please please PLEASE get rid of the f—ing barrel racers. And Walker!”

In a recent behind-the-scenes featurette, John Dutton actor Kevin Costner seemed to acknowledge that the barrel racers have been trouble, saying it didn’t work out to have them in the Bunkhouse. But will series co-creator Taylor Sheridan send them away in Season 4? Audiences will just have to wait and see.

Did Walker ‘Have it Coming’?

As for Walker and Lloyd, while some fans have expressed disappointment over Lloyd’s petulant behavior, others have said Walker was due for a fistfight. Immature as Lloyd is being, Walker has also been rubbing his face in Laramie’s defection to Walker’s bed.

“Did I enjoy Lloyd hitting Walker?” one fan posted to Reddit. “Hell yes. He’s had it coming a long time.”

Now that Rip (Cole Hauser) has been forced to knock Lloyd out and yell at Walker, it seems likely there will be further consequences for both ranch hands. Rip was not a happy man when he walked in on that brawl.

Since Bingham has reportedly signed on to join the Yellowstone spinoff 6666, we know that Walker is going to end up leaving the Dutton Ranch for the Four Sixes at some point. We just don’t know when or under what circumstances. Could be that fight was the beginning of the end for Walker’s tenure on the Dutton Ranch, brand or no. But fans will have to catch Yellowstone on the Paramount Network, Sundays at 8 p.m. ET, to find out.
