The Mandalorian Season 3 Reportedly Features Key Star Wars Location

New reports hint that a key location previously seen in Star Wars: The Clone Wars may be featured in the upcoming The Mandalorian season 3.

New reports claim that The Mandalorian season 3 will visit a key location in the Star Wars galaxy. Hype for the upcoming season has been building ever since the season 2 finale aired in December 2020. The appearance of Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) in the latter 3 episodes of The Book of Boba Fett has only made viewers’ anticipation for season 3 grow. This recent appearance has added many new levels to the upcoming adventures for Din, and each one leads to a planet viewers have had yet to see in full live-action: Mandalore.

The hints for a journey to Mandalore first began when Din met Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff) and her Nite Owls in The Mandalorian season 2. During a conversation where Din sought information about a Jedi, Bo-Katan shared with him that she and her fellow Mandalorians were planning to retake their homeworld using weapons they stole from Imperial freighters. Din had dismissed their plans by insisting the planet was “cursed,” but the idea came up again in the season 2 finale when Bo-Katan shared that she wanted Din to reconsider joining their effort if he completed his quest with Grogu. With that being done, and Din earning the Darksaber from Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) in a duel, it seemed inevitable that Mandalore was on the horizon for The Mandalorian season 3. Din’s banishment from his tribe in The Book of Boba Fett as a result of removing his helmet has only made this journey more personal as Din seeks atonement in the “living waters beneath the mines of Mandalore.”

Now, reports from Bespin Bulletin (via The Direct) share that season 3 will, in fact, visit Mandalore as well as its living waters. The report details a scene that uses a cave set previously used in other seasons of The Mandalorian in addition to Obi-Wan Kenobi and The Book of Boba Fett. The set will also reportedly have a blue screen addition to display a lake, which is supposedly the site of the “living waters” the Armorer (Emily Swallow) had mentioned in The Book of Boba Fett chapter 5. Din won’t be alone, though, as it’s also being reported that the Armorer and Paz Vizsla will appear in scenes on Mandalore with him. These scenes are said to be taking place on snowy mountaintops that may be connected to the cave set.

The Armorer’s vivid words to Din about the “living waters beneath the mines of Mandalore” intentionally stood out, which makes these reports seem quite likely to be true. While the journey to Mandalore isn’t a huge surprise for viewers, the inclusion of the Armorer and Vizsla is something that was previously unknown. If Din wants to earn his atonement on Mandalore, it makes sense that he would bring the Armorer and Vizsla along as witnesses. This could make for a tense event if Din decides once he gets there that he no longer wants to follow the creed he once swore himself to. It could also become more tense if Din discovers that the Armorer has known more about the planet than she’s let on, which would be an interesting addition to Din’s growing story.

What’s already known about The Mandalorian season 3 promises a thrilling adventure for both Din and the show’s audience. Much of his character growth thus far has been pointing towards him becoming the leader Mandalore needs. What Din still needs to come to terms with is how certain he feels of “the way,” or the creed he’s sworn himself to. The Book of Boba Fett proved that Din is still as honorable as they come in terms of laying down his life for others, but it’s also evident that he doesn’t regret doing what he had to do in order to save Grogu by removing his helmet in The Mandalorian season 2. The physical journey as well as the spiritual journey Din will be making in The Mandalorian season 3 is shaping up to be quite the experience.
