‘M*A*S*H’ and ‘Hogan’s Heroes’ Both Featured Miss Sweden 1964 in Episodes

What better place to find on-screen eye candy than at the Miss Universe competition? In 1964, Siv Märta Åberg of Sweden took third runner-up in the contest. As a result, she landed a few roles on a few classic American television shows, including “MAS*H” and “Hogan’s Heroes.”

She was credited as Sivi Aberg, presumably because that’s an easier name for Americans to digest, and made her on-screen debut in 1966. Her first role came on “Batman,” but the Swedish beauty moved on to appear in military comedies like “MAS*H.”

In 1973, Aberg plays the role of a nurse from a Swedish unit in an episode of “MAS*H” titled “Dear Dad… Three.” The episode itself sees Hawkeye write a letter home to his father. Aberg doesn’t make her appearance until the end.

When she is introduced to Hawkeye, the surgeon begins singing the song “Makin’ Whoopee.”

With the term lost in translation, Aberg’s character asks, “What is that? Whoopee?” And Hawkeye responds amused, “I’ll be with you in a minute.”

Before she showed up on “M*A*S*H,” Aberg appeared in a 1968 episode of “Hogan’s Heroes” titled “LeBeau and the Little Old Lady.” The episode follows LeBeau as he corresponds with an underground agent who he claims is an old lady. In reality, the agent is a gorgeous blonde named Wilhelmina, who is played by Celeste Yarnall. The episode sees Sivi Aberg play a character named Juliana, who shares some screen time with Hogan himself.

In 1967, Sivi Aberg starred in “Surf’s Up! Joker’s Under!” as Undine, one of the Joker’s henchwomen.

“Coast is clear, Joker. Hot Dog is working on his surfboard,” she says in the first scene.

“What are you doing to that surfboard, Hot Dog?” she asks in another.

“I just saw Batman and Robin parking the Batmobile in an alley behind this joint,” she tells the Joker.

Not taking anything away from her acting ability, but the fact that the filmmakers chose to leave her in a tiny, silver bikini for the entire movie is indicative of her beauty pageant roots. She doesn’t say all that much, but when she does, she speaks with an endearing Swedish accent.
