Here’s How You Can Watch ‘Gunsmoke’ Episodes in Color on TV in 2022

Gunsmoke was one TV show that was filmed in black-and-white before going to color episodes. Here’s where you can see those “in color” ones.

Where can you see all 20 seasons of Marshal Dillon, Miss Kitty, Festus, Doc, and more? The INSP Channel will be your TV home for those color episodes that aired originally on CBS.

Yes, these are all in color. Not colorized as some black-and-white shows have been done in recent years.

Let’s take a look at this great teaser from INSP’s Instagram account.

Well, look at that, will you? What great clips including what looks like yet another showdown in Dodge City.

OK, so the cast members for Gunsmoke also included James Arness, Amanda Blake, Ken Curtis, and Milburn Stone.

Also part of the cast was Dennis Weaver, Burt Reynolds, and Buck Taylor. Some of them will be in the black-and-white episodes, while others will be in those color episodes.

The reason we also mention those other episodes is that INSP will air all 20 seasons of Gunsmoke. The show debuted in 1955 and ended its run in 1975. A total of 480 episodes make up the show’s library. Look for INSP on your TV options at home.

‘Gunsmoke’ Had Number of Guest Stars Go On To Become Leads In Other Westerns

Good Lord, there are a number of former guest stars that appeared on Gunsmoke that went on to achieve their own success as lead actors in other Westerns.

We will break all of this down with some help from an article by MeTV.

First up will be Dan Blocker, who would go on and play Eric “Hoss” Cartwright on Bonanza. Blocker appeared in two small roles in the CBS series.

His Bonanza castmate, Pernell Roberts, had a few spins in Dodge City. Roberts, who played Adam Cartwright, appeared on Gunsmoke before and after his time on the Ponderosa. Lee Majors and Peter Breck did guest-star turns before ending up on The Big Valley with Barbara Stanwyck and Linda Evans.

Jack Kelly from Maverick popped on over in Gunsmoke for an episode.

Who else? Heh, let’s mention Chuck Connors and James Drury. Yes, before they went on to star in The Rifleman and The Virginian, respectively, they met up with Marshal Matt. Melissa Gilbert appeared before her turn on Little House on the Prairie.

If you are a fan of The Wild Wild West, then you will know that Ross Martin had his own chance to appear on Gunsmoke. Our last lookback involves Leif Erickson, who went from Dodge City to The High Chapparal.
